SH2-58
(Sharpless 58
)
This small sharpless object has some very nice structure in it which a larger telescope should be able to bring out better than is what seen here. The nebula responds very well to the hydrogen-alpha filter. With a long exposure using the color RGB filters, you can create a nice HA-RGB image of this object. Also seen here is SH2-57 which is smaller and dimmer than the larger SH2-58. I did try a sub frame using the oxygen III filter but did not pick up anything to justify doing a color narrowband image. A wider field of view will also show more of the Milky Way which will display a better contrast with the darker areas seen in this image.
