SH2-249 (IC 444 )

This unusual shaped object lies next to another very famous object known as IC 443 or SH2-248. Using a wide field of view you, can capture both objects very easily. Like SH2-248, this one responds best to the hydrogen-alpha filter, but unlike SH2-248, it does not pick up any OIII or SII, so a narrowband color image really does not work here. You do get a nice HA-RGB image, but you need a good exposure to colorize the rich H-Alpha you will pick up. Larger telescopes do not really have any advantage with this object other than the fact that they can pick up both objects in the same field of view given the camera is a large format CCD
